Women's Tennis Collects Second ASUN Win in Four Days

DELAND, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in ASUN play after defeating Stetson, 5-2, Monday afternoon. The squad picked up its second conference win in four days after Junior Sean Lodzki clinched the match for the Ospreys on court six.

In doubles, Lucia Montano and Constanza Gorches blanked Brooke Milner and Katie Kubicz, 6-0 on court two. Catherine Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo quickly followed suit clinching the doubles point. The pair downed Danel Ashirova and Elodie Foster in the one slot, 6-1.

Gulihur and Melilo are now 10-2 on the year in doubles. Sean Lodzki and Annabelle Davis went unfinished on court three.

Junior transfer Gulihur kept her momentum going into singles. She swept Ashirova, 6-1, 6-0, in the two slot, improving to 10-3 overall in singles. Freshman Davis stretched the Ospreys lead to 3-0 with a win on court five. She swept her opponent as well, 6-2, 6-1 in the victory.

Stetson answered back claiming courts four and three to make the score 3-2. Summer Yardley dropped the decision 4-6, 2-6, in the four slot before Gorches fell 5-7, 1-6, in the three slot.

Lodzki clinched the match for North Florida after edging Foster on court six. The junior dropped the first set 1-6, and came back 6-4, 6-4, to help the Ospreys to a 2-0 start in ASUN play.

Montano ended the day with UNF's final win in the one slot. She edged Stetson's Gabriel Anais, 6-0, 4-6, 7-5.

The Ospreys host FAU for the teams' second meeting this season on Wednesday.
