
Women's Tennis Cruises Past South Alabama To Remain Undefeated, 5-0

FORT MYERS, Fla. – North Florida Women's Tennis improved to 21-0 when it defeated South Alabama, 5-0, in a neutral site match at FGCU Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Senior Laurie Barendse and graduate student Isabel Oliveira opened doubles action with a dominant win at the one line, 6-2. Senior Jasmin Makela and sophomore Gabby Goyins secured the doubles point for North Florida and dropped just one game en route to a win at three, 6-1.
North Florida wasted little time adding to their lead on the singles courts. Oliveira put North Florida ahead, 2-0, with a win at the two line, 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Aryana Bartlett extended UNF's lead to 3-0 in the match with a two-set win at three, 6-2, 6-3.
Barendse carried her momentum into singles action in come-from-behind fashion. Trailing 5-3 in the first set, Barendse fought back to earn a 7-5 first-set win at one.
Graduate student Anslee Long notched a tightly contested first-set win at six, 7-6. Barendse and Long had simultaneous match points and secured the sweep for the Ospreys with a pair of two-set victories on courts one and six.
