ATHENS, Ga. - A story always has to come to an end and North Florida senior Jack Findel-Hawkins had his career come to a close as he fell in the men's tennis NCAA Singles Championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon.
No. 16 William Blumberg topped Findel-Hawkins, 6-4, 6-4, in the NCAA quarterfinals. The Exmouth, Great Britain native, had an epic run in the tournament becoming the first ASUN player to win three matches in the tournament.
"Unfortunately I couldn't do enough to get the win today. I didn't play my best tennis and I just game up against a guy who is playing great at the moment," said Findel-Hawkins. "It was still great for me and allowed tme to finish my collegiate career on a high. I can't thank my coaches and my fellow teammates for everything they have contributed to this program over the past four years. It's been an honor to have been an Osprey and I am excited to watch not just the tennis program, bu the university grow as a whole as an alum."
Findel-Hawkins is just the 11th player from a non-Power 5 school in the last 10 years to make the quarterfinals. He finishes his career with 62 singles wins, two ASUN Player of the Year honors as well as earning ITA All-American status. His 62 victories rank fifth in the North Florida singles record book.
