SIESTA KEY, Fla. - North Florida beach volleyball wrapped up the Fiesta on Siesta with a 3-2 victory against Grand Canyon University on Sunday morning.
Now standing at 19-5 on the season, UNF sets the program's single-season win record. Grand Caynon drops to 13-6 on the year and is on a three-game skid.
After splitting the first two courts, the Ospreys buckled down to make it a competitive match. Senior Ambre Desaulnay and freshman Chaney Howard took a three-set win in the No. 4 court. The duo won, 17-21, 21-11, 15-8 to put UNF up 1-0, but the Lopes won in the No. 5 dual.
Courtney Miller and Katarina Raicevic followed suit for UNF with a three-set win at the No. 3 spot. They pair dropped the opening set, 18-21, but fought back 24-22, 20-18 to make it a 2-1 game for UNF. With the clinch match left to the No. 1 and No. 2 courts, Grand Canyon evened the score at 2-all with a victory in the No. 1 spot.
Senior Lauren Ford and junior Kimberly Ferguson battled in their win, 11-21, 21-16, 19-17, at the No. 2 court and secured the win for the Ospreys.
The Ospreys close up the regular season at the Florida State duals on Friday and Saturday. UNF will face familiar opponents in UAB, College of Charleston and Georgia State. North Florida will also take on Tulane who will be a first-time opponent this year.
