No. 17 Beach Volleyball Sweeps Saint Leo In Home Finale To Close Out North Florida Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Beach Volleyball closed out its home slate with the final day of action at the North Florida Invite at The Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex on Saturday.

North Florida fell to No. 14 Florida Atlantic, 3-2, and swept Saint Leo, 5-0. The Ospreys concluded their home schedule with a 6-2 record with both losses against ranked opponents.

The Ospreys honored five seniors – Raven Jordan, Presley Murray, Andrea Da Silva Encinas, Mackenzie Murphy and Madison Espy – prior to the first match.

North Florida earned its fifth sweep of the season in the home finale against Saint Leo. Four of the five lines were won in straight sets. Freshman Samantha Crosby and sophomore Natalie Villalon posted a 21-15, 21-13 win at the five line, while junior Eden Anderson and freshman Ally Bunch teamed up for a dominant 21-5, 21-15 win at the four spot. Senior pair Andrea Da Silva Encinas and Madison Espy clinched the match with a 21-10, 21-13 win on three. Senior Presley Murray and redshirt junior Sophia Notaro posted a 21-11, 21-15 win at the one line, and junior Cameron Humphries and senior Mackenzie Murphy notched the sweep with a three-set win at the two flight, 21-11, 15-21, 15-12.

Anderson and Bunch posted a three-set win at the five line, 21-17, 19-21, 17-15, while Humphries and Murphy added a 21-14, 21-12 win at the two line against Florida Atlantic.

North Florida heads to Austin, Texas to battle four ranked opponents at the Texas Invitational, hosted by Texas, on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28.
