VERO BEACH, Fla. -- With all five players shooting par or better, the No. 37-ranked North Florida men's golf team blistered the course for a 15-under 273 on Tuesday in final round action at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate. Sophomore Philip Knowles led the charge earning his first collegiate medalist honor.
The surge pushed the Ospreys to a runner-up finish at the event, finishing with a 54-hole total of 837 (-27), just two shots behind team champion No. 43 Michigan State. Knowles carded a final round 4-under 68, capping off a stretch of three consecutive rounds in the 60s and collecting him a share of the medalist title with a three-round total of 203 (-13).
Travis Trace was the squad's top performer in the final round as the sophomore notched seven birdies en route to a career best 6-under 66. His strong performance allowed him to also post his best career finish (T-15th) and lowest tournament total (212). Fellow sophomore Andrew Alligood posted his second straight Top 5 showing, after carding a final round 69 to finish tied for 5th at 208.
Rounding out the Osprey lineup on Tuesday, senior Osten Waite matched his career best with a 2-under 70 to finish tied for 43rd (218), while junior Dillon Woods netted an even-par 72 and finished tied for 28th (216).

Quotable...
"The guys played really well today. With no rounds under par, that usually makes for good golf. Unfortunately, we made a few bogeys on the tough holes and that caused us to come up just short in the team competition. It was a great win for Philip, as he has been knocking on the door of an individual title for awhile. He did a tremendous job of bouncing back after making a double-bogey on his first hole." -- Head coach Scott Schroeder
