
Men's Golf Among Leaders after Opening Round of Ka'anapali Classic

LAHAINA, Hawaii -- No.33-ranked North Florida opened play Friday in the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic with a round of 3-over 287 to sit tied for fifth with UC Santa Barbara.
The Ospreys, who are playing in their final fall tournament, finished day one among the group of nationally-ranked squads at the top of the leaderboard. No. 39 South Carolina holds the lead after a 2-under 282 followed by No. 13 LSU (283), No. 15 Georgia (284) and No. 24 Clemson (284) rounding out the rest of the Top 5.
Sophomrore Philip Knowles was the top performer for UNF in round one finishing with a 1-under 7 that included a team-leading three biridies.Fellow sophomores Andrew Alligood (71) and Travis Trace (72) joined Knowles in the Top 25 individual listing, ranking tied for 14th and 20th places, respectively.
Junior Dillon Woods, the lone Osprey player making a repeat appearance at the event, carded a 3-over 74 to tend the day tied for 50th while senior Osten Waite is tied for 62nd after a round of 75 (+4).

Tournament action continues Saturday on the par 71, 6,700-yard layout of Ka'anapali Golf Course. Play begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. HST (2:30 p.m. EST). North Florida will be teammed with UCSB, No. 7 Oklahoma and Gonzaga in second round play.
