JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Lasse Muscheites came back for a match-clinching three-set victory at No. 4 singles and No. 2 seeded University of North Florida men's tennis held off No. 3 seeded USC Upstate 4-1 in the Atlantic Sun Tournament semifinals on Sunday morning. With the win, UNF advances to the Championship Match against Florida Gulf Coast later on Sunday afternoon.

The match initially started on Saturday afternoon, but was suspended until Sunday morning due to weather that came through the Jacksonville area. At the time the match was stopped, UNF had a 2-0 lead.

UNF, who is nationally ranked at No. 73 as a team, dominated the doubles competition and won the doubles point. Norbert Nemcsek and Julian Bradley had the first doubles win after an 8-3 triumph over Ignacio Garrido and Viktor Selander on the No. 2 court. The No.1 pair of Muscheites and Zach Goldberg clinched the doubles point by defeating Ramon Simonetti and Jamie Yates 8-2. In the other doubles match, Alberto De Meo and Yannick Zuern held a 7-3 advantage on the No. 3 court when the point was clinched.

De Meo had UNF's first singles win by powering past Felix Ewers 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. When the match resumed on Sunday, Zuern quickly finished off Selander on the No. 2 court, coming back for a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 triumph that put the Ospreys up 3-0.

However, USC Upstate got onto the scoreboard when Yates defeated Bradley 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 to make it 2-1.

In No. 4 singles, Muscheites and Garrido battled close during the first two sets. Garrido won the first set on a tie-break 7-6 (1) score, but Muscheites edged him out in the second set 6-4. Muscheites pulled away from Garrido in the final set, winning 6-3.

The Championship Match is anticipated to begin at 2 p.m., on Sunday afternoon. Admission is free to the UNF Tennis Complex
