ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The three-time Atlantic Sun Champion University of North Florida sand volleyball team begins its quest for another title as the Ospreys open the season by hosting the 2015 UNF Sand Volleyball Invitational Presented by BEACH 105.5 FM Saturday and Sunday at the St. Augustine Pier.

The dual match tournament begins at 8:30 on both days. UNF's first match is set for 10:30 a.m. against FAU on Saturday.

"We can't wait to host our fourth annual UNF Sand Volleyball Invitational," said head coach Steve Loeswick. "There will be a lot of great competition on the courts and this year's sponsor, BEACH 105.5, will make it a very fun event. Our team is a bit younger this season, but they are excited to get out there and start our season."

Joining UNF at the St. Augustine Pier this weekend are College of Charleston, FAU, FIU, Georgia State, Jacksonville, LSU and South Carolina. Additionally, the Ospreys face Flagler in an exhibition match to conclude Saturday's competition. Both FIU and Georgia State have already garnered national attention this spring. FIU enters the weekend ranked No. 7 in the AVCA Top-10 Poll. Georgia State was at No. 10 in the Preseason Poll.

In 2014, UNF claimed its third-straight conference title after a 7-1 mark in Atlantic Sun play. Among those returning to the Ospreys is Cari Whitmire, who was named Atlantic Sun Pair of the Year with Anna Budinska.

Admission is free to the 2015 UNF Sand Volleyball Invitational Presented by BEACH 105.5 FM and is open to the public.
