KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The North Florida women's golf team continues its spring season Sunday at the Kiawah Island Classic hosted by the College of Charleston.
The Kiawah Island Classic is the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country featuring a field of 36 teams playing 54 holes on two different courses at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort -- Cougar Point (Par 72, 6,001 yards) and Oak Point (Par 72, 5,902 yards). The event format allows for every team to play a round on each of the courses the first two days before making a championship cut that has Top 19 play final round at Cougar Point and rest of field finish play at Oak Point.
The Osprey lineup for Kiawah Island will be led by a trio of juniors including Emelie Alpe, Kelly Aylwin and Belinda George along with freshmen Lauren Coe and Nathalie Nygren. UNF will tee off at 11:33 a.m. on Sunday from Hole 10 of Cougar Point. North Florida will play alongside Florida Gulf Coast and Georgetown the first two days of competition.
"The team has practiced well lately," said UNF head coach Joanne Steele. "We had a good practice round on the course today and the girls are looking forward to building on their success from the final round of the Amelia Island Invitational."
