JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The University of North Florida swimming and diving team defeated the University of West Florida 171.50-128.50, but fell 156-138 to Campbell University on Saturday afternoon in the home finale at the UNF Aquatics Center.
In the 200-yard butterfly, Amy Taylor claimed first-place with a time of 2:09.69. Lissa Janowicz (2:12.01) and Kara Plocharsky (2:14.92) finished third and fifth, respectively.
In the 1-meter diving competition, Monica Rice placed first with 259.25 points and Amanda Habig claimed second with 248.05 points. Morgan Whittle (238.75), Fernanda Robles (215.45) and Chelsea Chandler (186.25) placed fourth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
Eva Porter placed first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.16, followed by Janowicz finishing in fourth with a time of 1:01.45.
In the 400-yard medley relay, the Ospreys A-team of Ana Cristina de Paula, Bridget Woods, Porter and Maria Bernard claimed third with a time of 4:05.75.
Taylor finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle event with a time of 10:37.85. Plocharsky (11:01.26) earned a fourth-place finish and Cara Maxwell claimed eighth with a 11:33.95 finish.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Maria Bernard (1:58.69), Rebeca Bernard (1:59.14) and Caitlyn Gutierrez (2:02.75) were the top three finishers among the Osprey.
Janie Kennedy (1:01.76), Ana Cristina de Paula (1:02.11) and Kristina Alexiou (1:04.22) finished fourth, fifth and eighth in the 100-yard backstroke, respectively.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Natalie McCallum finished second with a time of 1:09.05. Woods (1:09.48) claimed third while, Mariana de Paula (1:15.54) earned ninth.
Mariana de Paula (25.43) placed third, Rebeca Bernard (25.76) placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle. While Porter finished with a time of 26.26 and Gutierrez (26.70) also competed for the Ospreys.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Rebeca Bernard claimed second with a time of 54.56. Mariana de Paula (55.31) and Porter (55.55) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kennedy was the top finisher for the Ospreys in the 200-yard backstroke with a fifth-place finish and a time of 2:13.82. Alexiou followed suit with a seventh-place finish and a time of 2:17.24 and Angel Morrison rounded out the Ospreys with a time of 2:20.83 and a ninth-place finish.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Woods (2:28.44), McCallum (2:30.13) and Ana Cristina de Paula (2:32.64) finished one, two and three among the Osprey.
Taylor earned third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:13.35. Maria Bernard (5:20.37) and Plocharsky (5:21.90) finished back-to-back.
In the 3-meter diving, Robles claimed second with a score of 253.35. Habig (252.85), Rice (247.95), Whittle (242.30) and Chandler (208.30) claimed third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
McCallum was the top Osprey finisher in the 200-yard IM, she finished second with a time of 2:11.40. Woods (2:13.26) and Janowicz (2:19.29) earned second and third place among the Ospreys, respectively.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, North Florida's A-team of Mariana de Paula, Rebeca Bernard, Maria Bernard and McCallum tied for second with Campbell's Sydney Postmus, Virginia Dailey, Meredith and Larissa Joassaint in a time of 3:38.75. The Ospreys B-team of Kennedy, Taylor, Gutierrez and Ana Cristina de Paula earned fourth with a time of 3:43.09.
The Ospreys next see action in Statesboro, Ga., swimming against Georgia Southern and Gardner-Webb on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Noon.
