The Ospreys are 6-6 against the Gators all-time, including a 3-6 record in Gainesville.
North Florida won the last match-up between the two schools 7-6 in 10 innings in Gainesville on Feb. 26. Tied at the end of regulation, the Ospreys scored a run in the 10th inning that proved to be the game winner. Alex Bacon led off the inning with an infield single. He moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Kyle Brooks. Bacon moved 90 feet closer to home as the Gators' pitcher balked. Corey Bass came through with an RBI double to left center field and score the deciding run. In the bottom of the 10th, the Gators used a throwing error by the Ospreys to place a runner on first base. After a North Florida pitching change, Florida bunted to move the runner into scoring position. With the tying run on second base, Corbin Olmstead caught the Florida batter looking at strike three for the second out of the inning. After surrendering a walk, Olmstead induced a fly ball to center field to secure the victory for the Ospreys.
UNF is 11-0 all-time against Florida A&M with a 4-0 mark against the Rattlers at Moores-Kittle Field.
Last season, the Ospreys and Rattlers met up four times during the season. North Florida outscored Florida A&M 47-6. The Ospreys won the first meeting of the year in Tallahassee 19-1 before claiming a 7-1 victory in Jacksonville. North Florida won a road game against Florida A&M 8-3 before completing the four-game season sweep 13-1 at Harmon Stadium.
Scouting the Opposition:
Florida:
The Gators enter the week with a 9-12 overall record and a 1-2 mark in the Southeastern Conference. Florida opened SEC play with a three-game series with No. 10 Kentucky. After winning the first game of the series, the Gators fell the next two contests to drop the series.
The last two trips to Gainesville for the Ospreys have resulted in extra innings. North Florida fell 4-3 in 11 innings to Florida on May 8, 2012, but won 7-6 in 10 innings on Feb. 26, 2013.
Florida A&M:
Florida A&M is 1-20 on the season after being swept over the weekend on the road against USF. In the final game of the series, the Rattlers took an early 2-0 lead on USF, but costly errors would turn the game as the Bulls erupted for 11 runs in the game, their exact average of runs against the Rattlers in the three game series. Bennie Robinson continued his tear, going 2-for-4 on the day. That put him at .500 for the series, as he went 6-for-12 over the three days. Reginald Grant also got two hits on the day, scoring a run for the Rattlers.
