Evans, 800 Free Relay Team Break Records at CCSA Championships

Day Two Results
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of North Florida swimming and diving team continued competition at the 2013 Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association at the Gabrielson Natatorium in Athens, Ga. on the campus of the University of Georgia. On day two of competition, senior Sara Evans earned All-CCSA accolades as she finished second place with a UNF record-breaking performance in the 400-yard individual medley, while the quartet of Amy Taylor, Olivia Langford, Maria Bernard and Natalie McCallum broke the school record in the 800 freestyle relay.
Florida Gulf Coast continues to lead after two days of competition, notching a team score of 544. Liberty is in second place with 378 points, while Georgia Southern (300.5) improved to third place. Gardner-Webb (242) is in fourth place with North Florida (226) in fifth. Rounding out the scoring on Day 2 was College of Charleston (223.5), Davidson (190), Campbell (173), UNC-Asheville (88), Radford (73), Howard (60), VMI (35) and North Carolina A&T (30).
North Florida started the day with the 200 medley relay. The team of Ellice Mae Sanchez, Bridget Woods, Krissy Morgan and McCallum came just over one second shy of breaking the North Florida school record in the event, posting a season-best time of 1:47.66. The relay team of Kristina Alexiou, Katie England, Lissa Janowicz and Caitlyn Gutierrez recorded a mark of 1:50.30 in the 200 medley relay.
The day continued with the 400 individual medley. Evans broke her own school record in the event, posting a time of 4:22.58, besting her previous time by two full seconds. The senior's time was good enough for second place and All-CCSA accolades for Evans. In the preliminaries of the 400 IM, Evans advanced to the finals with a time of 4:26.49, while Gutierrez finished with a time of 4:41.48.
Lissa Janowicz was the top finisher for the Ospreys in the 100 butterfly. The sophomore posted a time of 58.73 in the preliminaries, while Morgan notched a time of 58.98.
The Ospreys had four swimmers compete in the 200 freestyle with all four competitors notching season-best times. M. Bernard was the top finisher for North Florida, clocking a time of 1:53.91. Langford finished just off the pace with a time of 1:54.20. Rebeca Bernard notched a 1:54.70, while Janie Kennedy posted a time of 1:56.90.
In the 100 breaststroke, McCallum and Woods finished back-to-back in the finals. In the finals, McCallum posted a time of 1:04.72 to finish just ahead of Woods (1:05.26) who posted the best time for the Ospreys in the preliminaries of the event (1:04.52). England finished as an alternate with a time of 1:06.05, while Hannah Brown recorded a time of 1:12.19.
Morgan posted a time of 58.05 in the preliminaries of the 100 backstroke to advance to the finals. In the finals of the 100 back, Morgan clocked a 58.31. Sanchez recorded a time of 58.62 in the prelims, while Alexiou touched in at 59.78.
For the second year in a row, the 800 freestyle relay team posted a North Florida school record. Taylor, Langford, M. Bernard and McCallum teamed up for a time of 7:32.66 to break the school record. The quartet finished just out of All-Conference honors, taking fourth in the event.
