KENNESAW, Ga. – University of North Florida softball was tripped up in its doubleheader at Kennesaw State at Bailey Park on Friday, falling 7-4 in the first game and then 12-4 in six innings in Game Two.

Game One was a slugfest between UNF and Kennesaw State with the two teams combining for 25 hits. UNF had 12 hits, giving the Ospreys their fourth-straight game with 10-or-more hits.

UNF went up 1-0 in the top of the first with Danica Manadarano having a two-out RBI single to left field that drove in Mariah Reynolds.

Kennesaw State added two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead. Sharon Swanson tied the game at 1-1 on a Kaylee Williams RBI hit. Then a bases loaded walk allowed the Owls to add their second run of the inning.

UNF answered in the third with Manadarano getting her second RBI single of the game. This time, she sent a bases load hit up the middle that scored Kaley Brosky to make it a 2-2 game. However, Kennesaw State regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning, getting two runs on a Williams single to go up 4-2.

The Ospreys came back in the fourth to tie the game at 4-4. Jackie Reese's sac fly was far enough for Kelly Dill to score from third to make it a one-run game. Then with runners on the corners, Richelle Raley's infield single allowed Marissa Thomas to score the game-tying run.

However, Kennesaw State got three runs in the fifth inning to break the tie and hold on for the win. Williams had a two-run triple that gave the Owls a two-run lead and then later scored on a Carly Van Auken single to make it 7-4.

Kaylie Wallace received the loss after allowing seven runs off 11 hits in 4.1 innings. Wallace also struck out five batters.

Jessica Cross was the second of three pitchers used by the Owls and was credited with the win. Cross allowed two runs off five hits in 2.2 innings.

In Game Two, UNF contended with another powerful hitting game from Kennesaw State that saw the Owls record 13 hits. Kennesaw State went up 1-0 in the first after Natalie Rhodes scored on a Cross infield single.

The Owls added three more runs in each the third and fourth innings. With the bases load, a triple by Williams in the third allowed Kennesaw State to go up 4-0. In the fourth, Kennesaw State got two runs on a Cross double and another when Mandi Burns scored on a Bianca Durant RBI single to lead by seven.

UNF cut into Kennesaw State's lead in the fifth. With the bases loaded, Raley rocked a two-out double to left center that brought in three runs for the Ospreys and make it a 7-3 game. In the next at-bat with Stephanie McAdam pinch-running for Raley, Chie Someya sent a hit up the middle that brought home McAdam as Kennesaw State held a 7-4 lead through five innings.

However, the Owls got five runs in the sixth to close out the game. Jamie Saunders had a two-run single to make it 9-4, while Rhodes had a bases loaded, three-run triple to put Kennesaw State up by eight runs.

Kayla Goff had the loss after allowing four runs off six hits in 3.0 innings. Goff also had three strikeouts.

Amanda Henderson was credited with the win after giving up four runs off six hits in 4.2 innings. She also fanned seven batters.
