JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Softball's Head Coach Jeff Conrad announced the addition of assistant coach Sydney O'Hara on Friday morning.
"Sydney [O'Hara] has a lot of experience developing pitchers at the P4 level. In chatting with her about this position it became clear that this was an opportunity that she really valued," Conrad remarked. "Our program has really grown in the sense that someone like her is willing to not only leave a P4 position, but one at her alma mater to come help us evolve on what we are building. I look forward to seeing what Sydney can do in helping our bullpen take that next step in the growth of our program."
O'Hara comes to North Florida after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant coach at Syracuse. While at Syracuse, she worked primarily with pitchers but also assisted in all aspects of the program.
"I'm incredibly honored and excited to join the University of North Florida softball program as the new pitching coach. I'd like to thank [Head] Coach Jeff Conrad for this opportunity and for believing in me," O'Hara said. "UNF has built a strong foundation, and I'm looking forward to working with our pitchers, helping our student-athletes grow both on and off the field and contributing to the continued success of the Ospreys. I can't wait to get to Jacksonville and get to work."
In her first season at Syracuse, O'Hara led the pitching staff to 26 wins and a 3.36 ERA, its lowest ERA since the 2018 season.
O'Hara helped the Orange build on its success in 2024 with 28 wins, a 2.87 ERA, 19 complete games, seven shutouts and limited opponents to just a .231 batting average.
During the 2025 season, she guided Syracuse to 27 wins, a 3.64 ERA, 25 complete games, eight shutouts and limited opponents to just a .255 batting average.
Last season, O'Hara helped the Orange collect 18 wins, 13 complete games, two shutouts and four saves.
Prior to joining the Syracuse coaching staff, O'Hara spent three seasons at Binghamton also working with pitchers. She guided the Bearcats to six America East All-Conference selections and two All-Rookie team honorees.
From 2017-2018, O'Hara served as an assistant coach at Le Moyne College working with the Dolphins' pitching staff. She mentored two Dolphins to NFHCA All-Region Second team honors.
As a student athlete, O'Hara was a four-year letterwinner at Syracuse. She holds the career record for saves (12) and ranks in the top-10 in program history in 19 other career categories. As a senior, she boasted a single-season record .476 batting average, and her six saves that season also ranks first in single-season program history.
O'Hara was a three-time Louisville Slugger/NFHCA All-Region honoree (2014, 2016, 2017) and was named All-America by both Louisville Slugger/NFHCA (third team) and College Sports Madness (first team) as a utility player/pitcher. She earned first team All-ACC accolades in 2014 and again as a senior in 2017.
