Baseball Hosts FAMU in Non-Conference Midweek Game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team will face Florida A&M for the fourth and final time this season in a non-conference midweek game at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. The game will be the final “Toss It Back Tuesday” of the season, featuring $1.00 beers.

North Florida is currently 3-0 against Florida A&M this season and 10-0 all-time against the Rattlers.
In the first meeting this season with FAMU, tied 0-0 heading into the sixth inning, North Florida scored 11 runs to break the game open en route to a 19-1 victory at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee, Fla.
Offensively, the Ospreys scored 19 runs on 18 hits, including four doubles and a home run. Tyler Marincov belted his second home run of the season, while Alex Bacon hit two doubles. Chris Carter and Garrick Ferguson each recorded their first hits as Ospreys, finishing the night with a double each. Twelve North Florida batters recorded hits in the game with four players notching multiple hits.
On the mound, Kyle Finch earned his first collegiate start since 2010. The sophomore scattered three hits in 4.2 innings of work. He allowed no runs with three walks and three strikeouts. Spencer Herrmann earned his first collegiate victory in his first outing of the season. The freshman tossed 0.2 innings of relief, coming into the game when the Ospreys erupted for 11 runs. Trey Ferrano, Jamie Cardwell and Spencer Brown worked the final 3.2 innings, with Ferrano working 1.2 innings. The trio surrendered one hit combined in the effort.
The two teams met again in Jacksonville. UNF scored seven runs on 10 hits to cruise by FAMU, 7-1, at Harmon Stadium.
Offensively, three Ospreys players recorded multiple hits on the night led by Bacon who finished the night 3-for-3 with two doubles and a team-best two runs scored and an RBI. Marincov and Joe Wielbruda each finished the game with two hits apiece, while Corey Bass drove home a team-best two RBI.
On the mound, Tyler Moore picked up the victory. The sophomore tossed 3.0 innings in a controlled start. Moore surrendered just one hit and a walk, while striking out three batters. Chandler Jagodzinski worked 2.2 innings of relief. The senior surrendered a run on three hits without issuing a walk. Jagodzinski struck out a career-best five batters. Ryan McMahon tossed a career-high 2.1 innings of relief, striking out a career-best three batters. Brown closed out the game, working the last inning. He allowed a hit with a strikeout.

Michael Wesner added a pair of hits, while scoring two runs. Marincov boasted the only extra base hit of the night by either team with a double in the fifth inning.

Bethune-Cookman completed their sweep of the Florida A&M as they defeated the Rattlers 11-1 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) action on Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Rattlers finished the contest with nine hits as both John Scott and Corey Franklin finished with two hits each to lead FAMU. David Duncan received the loss as he pitched two innings, giving up six hits, seven earned runs and striking out one in the 14 batters he faced.
