
Softball Sweeps ETSU With Pair of One-Run Wins

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida softball captured a pair of one-run victories over ETSU during a Friday Atlantic Sun doubleheader at the UNF Softball Complex. A lead-off homer by Kelly Dill in the bottom of the sixth lifted the Ospreys to a 2-1 win in the first game, while Danica Mandarano's scored Game Two's only run in the third inning in UNF's 1-0 win.
The two wins also got head coach Marcie Hickey her 100th win as the Ospreys head coach.
In Game One, UNF went up 1-0 in the third. With the bases loaded, Dill hit a sac fly far enough into right field to allow Brittany Hendrix to score.
ETSU tied the game at 1-1 when Marlina Delisa had a bases-loaded, infield single that brought home one run. However, the tie was short-lived as Dill blasted one over the left field wall to make it 2-1 in favor of the Ospreys.
Ashley Brown received the win after pitching the final 1.2 innings. She allowed two hits and no runs and struck out two.
Katie Wolff pitched all 6.0 innings in the loss. Wolff gave up two runs – one earned – on six hits. She also had two strikeouts.
Game Two was a pitcher's duel between UNF's Kayla Goff and ETSU's Shelby Morris. Goff pitched a one-hitter and Morris only gave up two in the one-run game. Goff also got seven strikeouts in the game.
UNF's run came as Lauren Pollack laced a bases-loaded, RBI single through the left side, driving home Mandarano.
Goff received the win after pitching all 7.0 innings.
Morris pitched 6.0 innings with two strikeouts in the loss.
UNF returns to action on Saturday when the Ospreys host USC Upstate in an Atlantic Sun doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m., at the UNF Softball Complex.
