
Softball Tripped Up by UCF, 3-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida softball fell 3-0 in a tough, mid-week battle with UCF on Wednesday evening at the UNF Softball Complex.
Solid pitching by both teams kept it a scoreless inning through three innings. UNF was also the only team to get any hits in the first three innings, getting singles from Alyson Bailey and Mariah Reynolds in the third.
However, UCF got onto the scoreboard in the top of the fourth with a Natalie Land leadoff home run. The Knights added to their lead in the fifth when Tawny Swan scored from third to make it a 2-0 game. A bases-loaded single by Kahley Novak in the sixth allowed UCF to get its third and final run.
Cortney Radke received the loss after allowing three runs off five hits in 5.0 innings. Radke also fired six strikeouts.
Mackenzie Audas was credited with the win after holding UNF to five hits in 7.0 innings of work. Audas also struck out 12 batters.
Danica Mandarano was the only Osprey with multiple hits, going 2-for-3 from the plate.
Alena Murgatroyd was 2-for-4 for the Knights.
UNF returns to action on Friday when it hosts Lipscomb in an Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader at the UNF Softball Complex. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m.
