Softball Cruises Past North Alabama To Advance In ASUN Championship, 4-1

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - No. 7 seed North Florida Softball cruised past No. 3 seed North Alabama, 4-1, to advance in the 2026 ASUN Championship at UNF Softball Complex on Wednesday.

The Ospreys jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after an RBI single down the right field line from senior infielder Ayden Allen. After the Lions threatened with a base runner on second and no outs in the bottom of the initial frame, sophomore right-handed pitcher Taylor Cook picked up a strikeout and a pair of flyouts to leave the runner stranded.Â

With a pair of Ospreys in scoring position and two outs in the second inning, a single from graduate student Hallie Langford and a fielding error allowed a pair of runs to score and Langford to take third base. Langford would steal home four pitches later to extend North Florida's lead to 4-0. She would also extend her on-base streak to 18 games.

North Alabama would add a run with a solo shot in the fifth inning to reach the eventual final.

Cook was elite in the circle spinning a complete game with just one run allowed. For Cook, it marked her second-consecutive win after earning the win against EKU on Tuesday.

Redshirt junior outfielder Kalyn McCarthy would finish a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Ospreys.
