
No. 50 Men's Tennis Swoops Elon in Non-Conference Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – No. 50 University of North Florida men's tennis concluded its seven-match homestand and its non-conference schedule with a 7-0 sweep of Elon on Wednesday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
The Ospreys began the day with a three-match doubles sweep to go up 1-0. Graham Edgar and Leonardo Nahar got UNF's march to the doubles point started with an 8-5 win over Dan Sablik and Christopher Geaslen at No. 3 doubles. Daniel Sotomarino and Norbert Nemcsek finished their match right after Nahar and Edgar, posting an 8-4 No. 1 doubles win over Cameron Silverman and Eric Turner to give UNF the doubles point. Meanwhile, Moritz Buerchner and Pedro Davisson completed the UNF doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory against Stefan Fortmann and Jordan Kaufman at No. 2 doubles.
The day ended with UNF claiming all six of the singles matches. At No. 1 singles, Buerchner rallied from being down to Silverman 6-4 in the first set to taking the second set 6-4 and the third set 10-6. For Buerchner, it was his 10th three-set singles match of the season. Sotomarino added a 7-6 (6), 7-5 No. 2 singles win over Fortmann, while Nemcsek posted a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win against Kaufman at No. 3. Nahar cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Juan Madrid at No. 4 singles and Davisson downed Carlos Arboleda 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 singles. Timo Kranz had a comeback win at No. 6 singles, topping Sablik 3-6, 6-2 6-3.
UNF's remaining matches are all against Atlantic Sun opponents. The Ospreys return to action on Saturday against cross-town rival Jacksonville at 10 a.m., at the Keith Watson Family Tennis Complex. Winner of the match will earn its school a barrel point in the SunTrust River City Rumble.
