TULSA, Okla. -- Sophomore Norbert Nemcsek and Senior Moritz Buerchner continued their run at the 2012 ITA Men's All-American Championships, earning a first-round win to advance to the round of 16 in the men's doubles main draw on Thursday night.
The pair defeated Enej Bonin and Jens Vorkefeld of Denver University by an 8-5 margin to move into tomorrow's second round, the farthest any UNF competitor has ever advanced in the tournament.
"This was a great win," Head Coach Adam Schaechterle said. "You're talking about the top 16 doubles teams in the country still playing at this point."
On Friday afternoon, Nemcsek and Buerchner will face off against Henrique Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler of Duke, the eighth-seeded team in the main draw. The winner will earn a berth in the quarterfinal round. Play will begin as soon as possible after 1 p.m.
