JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After completing a 10-game road trip, the University of North Florida softball team (20-25, 4-8 A-Sun) returns home to host an Atlantic Sun Conference doubleheader against Campbell (26-19, 8-4 A-Sun) on Friday, April 15. The first pitch is slated for 5 p.m. (ET) at the UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys enter the weekend looking to get back in the winner's circle as the squad is on a four-game losing streak – it's second-longest of the year. Last weekend, North Florida split with Belmont before getting swept by conference-leader Lipscomb. The Ospreys then dropped a midweek doubleheader against Florida State on the road on Wednesday. Over the past six games, North Florida is being outscored 33-11.
Of North Florida's 25 losses, 12 have come to either nationally-ranked teams or squads that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season.
Freshman Cortney Radke leads North Florida in the circle, pitching 213.1 innings this season and boasting an ERA of 2.07. Radke has tallied five shutouts in 21 complete games on the year and has fanned 235 batters en route to a record of 18-16. At the plate, freshman Mariah Reynolds is hitting a team-best .281 on the season with four homeruns and a team-high 10 doubles.
Campbell is amid one of its better runs of the season, winning eight of its last 10 games with losses to Lipscomb and Kennesaw State. The Camels are led at the plate by Amanda Miller who is hitting .331 at this point in the season with four homeruns, four triples and 12 doubles. As a team, however, the squad is being outhit .282 to .264 by opponents. In the circle, Campbell's Katie Woodcock has worked 90.2 innings to an impressive 9-1 record and 2.01 ERA, including 86 strikeouts.
Having met just 10 times on the diamond, Campbell holds a 7-3 advantage over the Ospreys and has claimed the last three meetings. North Florida last claimed a win over the Camels on March 7, 2009 – a 4-1 victory in Jacksonville. North Florida is 2-2 against Campbell at the UNF Softball Complex.
