
Women’s Tennis Edged by Campbell, 4-3

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team was edged by Atlantic Sun Conference opponent Campbell, 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the James Nisbet Tennis Center in Buies Creek, N.C.
Campbell (8-4, 4-0 A-Sun) got out early, claiming the doubles point. The Ospreys (6-3, 2-1 A-Sun) did win at the No. 2 doubles as Danielle Day and Melanie Aguirre teamed up to defeat Karolina Chernaya and Borislava Nikolava, 8-2.
UNF claimed three wins in singles matches, picking up points at the No. 3, 4 and 5. Victoria Krook defeated Nikolava in straight sets with scores of 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 3.
In the No. 4, Aguirre dropped Heather Robinson, 6-4, 6-4 while Weymar secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over Dominek Wallaart at the No. 5.
UNF's No. 1 player, Aline Berkenbrock and No. 2 Danielle Day battled to three sets in their respective matches.
Berkenbrock squared off against Lisa Sutton and claimed the first set 6-2, but Sutton came back to take the next two with scores of 6-0, 6-1.
Day faced Chernaya who claimed the first set 7-6. Day came back in the second set to shut out Chernaya, 6-0, but the Camel player took the final set, 6-2.
UNF will be back on the court, hosting three straight matches, beginning with Buffalo on Wednesday, March 16 beginning at 2 p.m. at the UNF Tennis Complex. The Ospreys will return to conference play on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19, hosting Mercer and Kennesaw State, respectively.
