UNF Hosts Lipscomb in A-Sun Series

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team returns home after a long road trip to host Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb in a three-game series at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium.

The series begins on Friday, May 7, with a single game slated for 7 p.m. The Ospreys and Bison conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 8, with first pitch set for 1 p.m.

UNF enters the weekend on a two-game winning streak, sweeping a two-game midweek series on the road with UNC Greensboro. The Ospreys claimed the first game 10-9 thanks to a two-run ninth inning home run by T.J. Thompson. UNF took a 12-5 victory over the Spartans in the second game.

North Florida dropped a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference games to Belmont on Monday afternoon. The Ospreys waited two days of epic rain and flooding in Nashville before taking the field for the first time in nearly two weeks. The baseball team waited out two days of rain delays before taking the field against Belmont. When the two teams took the field, the Bruins claimed a pair of victories over the Ospreys, winning game one, 4-1, and game two, 15-9.

The Ospreys are 7-5 all-time against the Bison, winning two of the last three games in Jacksonville. Lipscomb has won the last two meetings between the two teams, sweeping a doubleheader in Nashville last season.

Lipscomb enters the weekend with a 15-29 overall record, including a 6-11 mark in the A-Sun. The Bison are currently ninth in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Lipscomb split a pair of games with Jacksonville in Nashville over the weekend. The final game of the series was rained out. Before the series with JU, the Bison had dropped five consecutive A-Sun games, falling in the final two games against Florida Gulf Coast at home and being swept by Stetson on the road.
