
Ospreys Rally Back in Bottom of Seventh

The Ospreys (21-22, 7-5 A-Sun) split on the day losing the first game 4-0, behind a no-hitter by junior hurler Childers for her fourth career no-hitter of the season. Coming into the weekend being ranked number one in the nation with a .62 ERA, Childers ended her day tossing her second no-hitter of the season, breaking her own single-season strikeout record, and took sole possession of the all-time shutouts record at Upstate.
After giving up a run in the first inning, Devyn Findley heated up in the second and got two big strikeouts in a row to end the inning, en route to seven K's on the day. The third inning took the Ospreys' momentum recording two back-to-back errors to allow two unearned runs, giving Upstate a 3-0 advantage.
Childers recorded a no-hitter and reached double digits in strikeouts (10) for her school's career record in wins (72).
Spartan shortstop Cheyanna Ohlrich, who hit her first home run of the season in the first game, and came back in the second game of the second inning with another home run, this time to left field to put USC Upstate on top 1-0.
UNF struggled not only in the first game but in the second game with their offense having a .211 batting average. The Ospreys went nine straight innings without a hit until sophomore Ariana Godwin managed to muster a base hit through the left side.

Sophomore Shaina Dent (5-10) started the second game and was able to limit the Spartans to two earned runs on six hits.
Childers went three innings permitting one hit until the bottom of the seventh. Godwin, who went 2-for-2 in game two, started the inning off with a base hit and was soon moved over to second by a sacrifice bunt courtesy of sophomore Britanie Block moving the tying run over to second.
Senior Kara Rutenbar then put a ball through the left side of the infield to tie the game and set the Ospreys up for the win, getting to third on an obstruction play after being tangled up with the Spartan's shortstop.
With the Ospreys tied 1-1, Torre drove the ball down the left field line for UNF's second walk-off hit in three games.
