Ospreys clash with No. 28 Michigan
Game Notes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida baseball team will open its 22nd season at Harmon Stadium at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when it takes on the 28th-ranked Michigan Wolverines.
The Ospreys went 2-2 over the weekend at the BankFirst Baseball Challenge in Starkville, Miss., claiming two wins over Northern Illinois and falling twice to Mississippi State - the last time by a walk-off three-run home run.
Senior Brian Wilson returned to action for the first time since 2007 and led the team in batting average, going 8-for-18 (.444) to go along with two extra base hits. He also scored four times. Senior RHP Ty Pryor picked up the win on the mound last Friday in UNF's 6-3 win over NIU, going 5.0 innings and striking out five. His brother, Tucker, got his first career save after tossing 4.0 innings and striking out four.
Junior LHP John Atteo steered the ship in UNF's 9-3 win against NIU on Sunday, notching his second career complete game after scattering 10 hits and striking out four. He allowed just three runs, two of which were earned.
Michigan went a perfect 4-0 last weekend in games against South Florida, Purdue, Cincinnati and St. Johns as part of the Big East/Big Ten Challenge. It is the best start for the Wolverines during their current coach, Rich Maloney's, tenure. Kenny Fellows led Michigan at the plate, going 7-for-14.
