UNF travels to Georgia Southern on Sept. 17
“It was a very strange game,” Bunch said. “The wind really made things difficult. We fought extremely hard but they deserved the win.”
UNF (1-4-0) battled the Braves to a scoreless tie at the half, but Bradley (3-2-1) wasted no time in taking the lead, scoring the game's first goal less than two minutes into the second half.
Bryan Gual netted the game-winner, his third goal of the season, off a corner kick. He took the corner and used a 50 mile-per-hour wind gust to bend the ball into the top corner.
In the final minute of the game, UNF took one of its three corner kicks, which, with help from the unwieldy winds, lead to Bradley's second goal.
“The wind blew our corner kick out of the box and toward midfield,” Bunch said. “They took it all the way down the field and scored in the last seconds.”
The score happened with only two ticks left on the clock. Justin Bigelow tapped the ball into an empty net for his first goal of the season.
“Overall, I'm proud of our performance this weekend,” Bunch said. “We faced and were very competitive against two very good teams, including Bradley, who finished in the top eight in the country last season.”
