Men's Soccer Secures Gritty Draw Against Mercer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Men's Soccer secured a hard-fought draw against Mercer, 1-1, at Corporate Traffic Logistics Field at Hodges Stadium on Sunday.
Senior defender Tyler Prebenda was issued a red card for a handball inside the goal area in the ninth minute. Mercer would take an early lead with a goal off the ensuing penalty kick.
The Ospreys threatened with three shots on goal in the final ten minutes of the first half, but Mercer maintained its 1-0 lead at the break.
North Florida broke through in the 62nd minute with a goal from senior forward Geraldo Neto off a penalty-kick equalizer. It marked his sixth goal at North Florida.
Fifth-year goalkeeper Luciano Natoli secured three second-half saves to keep the score tied. Natoli finished the match with four saves, which marked his second-straight match with three or more saves.
Overall, 17 Ospreys saw action and three players logged the full 90 minutes.
North Florida hits the road for the first time this season to battle FAU at FAU Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 27. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
