UNF (31-20, 8-6 A-Sun) left 10 runners on base in the opener, leaving the bases loaded twice, before USC Upstate (23-12, 9-5 A-Sun) put together a 16-hit performance in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
Heather Hyde led UNF's offense with two hits in each game, while Lauren Pulling went 3-for-4 in the second game.
UNF had no answer for Upstate's Morgan Childers. The right hander earned a complete-game win in the opener, striking out 11, before coming on in game two to nail it shut with four more strikeouts in 2.1 innings of work. Childers (18-5) allowed only six hits in 9.1 innings of work.
The Spartans jumped on the board with a run in the bottom of the third of game one, then added two more in the fourth to take what proved to be a commanding lead. Amber Patterson finally capped the scoring with a solo home run in the seventh.
UNF did not go without its chances. The Lady Ospreys had baserunners in every inning but the bottom of the fourth, but could not plate a run. UNF was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position, leaving the bases loaded in the fifth and seventh innings.
The Spartans opened the scoring in the second game with four runs in the top of the second inning before loading the bases with nobody out in the fourth. That chased UNF starter Tori Ahern (13-8), who gave up eight hits and all four of those runs in the second. Joanna Kurycki came on from there and worked out of the jam without allowing a run.
Upstate touched Kurycki for a run in the fifth before UNF finally got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Hyde and Pulling each drove home a run for the Lady Ospreys to make it a 5-2 game. That's all the closer they would get. Upstate added another run in the sixth and UNF left 10 on base for the second game in a row.
Brittany Rice (4-6) claimed the win in game two for the Spartans.
