John Collins enters his second season as North Florida men's tennis head coach in 2025.

Collins has compiled an overall collegiate coaching record of 96-115. In his first season at North Florida, he boasted eight overall wins, with a 4-4 record in Atlantic Sun Conference play, including an appearance in the ASUN Tournament semifinals.

Under Collins' tutelage, three North Florida athletes earned a total five ASUN postseason honors in 2025, highlighted by Andreas Scott who swept ASUN Player of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Doubles Pair of the Year with Bruno Vietri. Collins aided Youssef Labbene to the ASUN All-Freshman Team, while Vietri also earned ASUN All-Academic Team honors in 2025.

Between his tenures at Winthrop from 2015-2020 and Presbyterian from 2020-2024, Collins became one of the top 10 winningest head coaches in Big South Conference history. In Collins’ nine seasons as a head coach in the Big South, he guided 36 student-athletes to All-Conference selections. 

A total of 24 All-Conference honorees came during his stint at Presbyterian, where in his final three seasons, he produced two Player of the Year selections, three consecutive Freshman of the Year honorees, and one Scholar-Athlete of the Year nod. Presbyterian was also recognized three straight seasons as an ITA All-Academic Team with Collins at the helm.

Collins aided Presbyterian’s top doubles duo in 2023 to a top-25 national mark and an NCAA Doubles Championship. He guided his top singles player to a bid in the NCAA Singles Championship that same season.

Collins led Presbyterian to a regular season Big South championship in 2021 as well as Big South Tournament titles in 2021 and 2023. He also helped Presbyterian reach a top-10 final ranking in the ITA Carolina Regional from 2021-23.

In his third season at Winthrop, Collins won the 2018 Regular Season Big South Championship, tallying an undefeated record in conference play. While at Winthrop, Collins produced 12 Big South All-Conference selections.

Collins served as a student assistant coach at his alma mater of Tennessee in 2013 before moving on to a volunteer assistant role at Elon in 2014.

Collins played three years of tennis for Maryland from 2009-12 before spending his senior season at Tennessee in 2012-13. Collins was crowned the champion of the 2011 ITA Atlantic Regional and the 2012 ITA Ohio Valley Regional in doubles.

In Collins’ senior year at Tennessee, he ranked as high as sixth nationally in doubles and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2013 NCAA Team Tournament. Collins led the Volunteers to a top-five national team ranking, while also being 121st nationally in singles play.

Collins earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Tennessee in 2013 and a master’s degree in business administration from Winthrop in 2018.

Collins is married to Megan Collins, and has one daughter, Adeline.
