North Florida Athletics Introduces UNF Varsity Club

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida Athletics is proud to officially launch the UNF Varsity Club on Monday, a new initiative designed to reconnect former Osprey student-athletes with their programs while providing additional benefits and opportunities for engagement across UNF Athletics.
"The Varsity Club is about strengthening the lifelong bond between our former student-athletes and the programs they helped build," Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Nick Morrow said. "Our alumni have played a vital role in shaping the proud tradition of UNF Athletics, and this initiative creates meaningful opportunities for them to reconnect, give back and remain engaged with the Osprey family. By bringing together generations of former student-athletes, we are strengthening the pride, culture and sense of community that make UNF Athletics so special."
"Under Nick's leadership and vision, we came up with the concept for the Varsity Club," Senior Associate AD of Development Derek Marinatos said. "Matheo Mateos has done a great job advancing the project to this point, and with the support of the Annual Giving and advancement operations teams at UDAE, we are ready to provide this outstanding opportunity for all former UNF student-athletes. The Varsity Club will give alumni across all of UNF's sports a way to engage, reconnect and stay connected to the programs they represented as student-athletes."
The Varsity Club gives former student-athletes from every UNF sport an opportunity to support their respective programs while receiving exclusive benefits created specifically for Osprey alumni.
Exclusively designed for former North Florida student-athletes, the launch represents the next step in a broader effort by UNF Athletics to strengthen its connection with former student-athletes. As part of the development of the Varsity Club, UNF Athletics worked to build a more comprehensive database, identifying nearly 3,000 former Ospreys across the department's sports programs.
A key component of the program is that the Varsity Club's benefits are offered in addition to the benefits associated with each sport's traditional giving levels. Former UNF student-athletes who participate through a Varsity Club giving level will continue to receive the applicable benefits connected to their sport's standard giving program while receiving exclusive Varsity Club benefits.
Varsity Club members may have access to a variety of benefits designed to keep former North Florida student-athletes connected to UNF Athletics. Benefits may include 10% discounted sport-specific giving levels available exclusively to former UNF student-athletes. Members may also receive general admission tickets to regular-season home contests for applicable ticketed sports. Customized Varsity Club apparel and gear representing each former student-athlete's sport may also be available. Hospitality opportunities and special-event access may be offered based on sport and giving level. Additional opportunities may be available to reconnect with former teammates, coaches and the UNF Athletics community.
Beyond fundraising, the Varsity Club is designed to create a stronger and more connected network of Osprey alumni. By identifying and reconnecting thousands of former student-athletes, UNF Athletics aims to build lasting relationships between its past, present and future while creating new opportunities for former Ospreys to stay involved with the programs they helped build.
