Anthony Candelino is beginning his first season as an assistant coach with the UNF men[apos]s basketball program after being appointed to the position in August.
Candelino[apos]s athletic career included three years of minor league baseball and four years playing college basketball. He worked last year as an assistant baseball coach at The Bolles School in Jacksonville.
After being drafted in the fourth round of the 1985 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Montreal Expos, Candelino played two seasons for the Expos as a center fielder before his trade to the Mets organization.
He began his college basketball career at Marquette, where he played two seasons, before finishing at St. Peter[apos]s in 1991, when the Peacocks won the Metro Atlantic Athletics Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
A native of New Jersey, Candelino graduated from St. Peter[apos]s in 1991 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in criminology/sociology. He is married to the former Jennifer Kumik. The couple have three children, Olivia, Rosario [quote]Ross[quote] and Jillian.
