University Of North Florida Athletics Names Kailan Jones Head Cheerleading Coach

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Nick Morrow has announced Kailan Jones as the Head Coach of the Cheerleading program on Monday.Â

"It's an honor to serve as the next Head Coach at North Florida," Jones said. "I believe the strongest teams are built on trust, consistency, and a shared commitment to excellence. I'm excited to invest in our student-athletes and help build a championship culture that represents the University of North Florida with pride."

Jones joins North Florida after he spent 2025-26 in an Assistant Coach role with the All-Girl D1A Cheerleading program at South Florida. In that role, he assisted in coaching, training and preparation, and contributed to athlete development, performance execution, game-day preparation and sideline presence.Â

He helped guide the program to a 2026 UCA All-Girl D1A Game Day National Championship, in addition to 2026 UCA All-Girl D1A National and 2026 Cheerleading Worlds Division runner-up finishes.Â

Jones has continued to expand his instructional experience as a Collegiate Skills Instructor with Clark Specialties since 2023, where he has led skills development at the collegiate level.Â
Â
Since 2022, he has also served as a Camp and Retreat Instructor with Sunshine College Retreat. He joined IMPACT Choreography and Skills in 2026 as a Skills Instructor, where he has provided advanced training with an emphasis on skill progression, safety and performance.

Jones served as a Collegiate and High School Instructor for Varsity Brands from 2011-19. He also holds USA Cheer certification.Â

Jones, a Morehead, Ky., native, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in General Studies from Morehead State, where he was a student-athlete for the Cheerleading program.
