Softball Falls In Game One at Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â North Florida fell in the opening game of the River City Rumble at Jacksonville, 5-0, on Wednesday, April 29, at Debbie and Fred Pruitt Softball Complex.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Taylor Cook got the start for North Florida and recorded a swinging strikeout to leave a runner stranded in the bottom half of the second inning.

After a leadoff double from graduate student Hallie Langford, the Ospreys threatened with a pair of Ospreys in scoring position but were unable to convert, as the game remained scoreless through three innings.Â

With the double, Langford extended her on-base streak to 14-consecutive games. Junior infielder Bella Cimino would also push her on-base streak to 22 games with a walk in the opening frame.

The Dolphins would break the tie with a five run fourth inning.

Senior right-handed pitcher Kate Peters tossed three innings in relief.Â
