
Softball Splits Doubleheader; Earns Run-Rule Win In Game Two Against Queens

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â North Florida split its doubleheader against Queens on Saturday with a walk-off run-rule win in game two.

In game one of the doubleheader, Queens jumped out to an early 4-0 lead with runs in the first and second innings.
Â
North Florida would narrow the margin to 4-1 after a bases loaded RBI single from sophomore outfielder Grace Shaw in the fifth inning.Â
Â
Graduate student Hallie Langford would drive in the Ospreys second run of the night in the bottom of the seventh to reach the eventual margin.
Â
In game two of the doubleheader, Queens jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the opening frame.
Â
Langford would narrow the margin to just one with a run scored on a double steal from third base.
Â
Junior infielder Bella Cimino roped an RBI double down the left field to tie the game in the third inning. Senior infielder Ayden Allen would give the Ospreys their first lead of the day with a two-run home run, her fourth of the season, to left field to give UNF a 4-2 advantage headed into the fourth inning.

North Florida would extend its lead with a four-run frame in the fourth inning. Junior utility player Addie Keef got the scoring started with a single up the middle to score a pair of runs, and Cimino would belt a two-run home run to center field, her 11th home run of the season, to give UNF an 8-2 lead.

The Royals would post a run of their own in the fifth to make the score 8-3.

Langford would send her second double of the game into center field to bring home two more Ospreys and extend the lead to 10-3 in the fifth.Â

Junior Utility player Addyson Bruneman would give the Ospreys a run-rule win in the sixth with a walk-off RBI double to center field to reach the eventual final.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Taylor Cook would earn the win for North Florida in the circle spinning 6.0 innings with five strikeouts.
