JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball fell in extra innings in the first game of the River City Rumble to Jacksonville, 7-6, at UNF Softball Complex on Thursday evening.

Jacksonville grabbed an early advantage with four runs in the third inning.

Back-to-back bases-loaded walks and a fielder's choice helped the Ospreys tack on three runs in the fourth inning to cut the Dolphins lead to just one.

Jacksonville responded with a run in the fifth to make the push its lead back out to 5-3.

With the bases full of Ospreys in the fifth inning and two outs, junior infielder Bella Cimino punched a game-tying single to right field to bring in a pair and even the score, 5-5.

With a Dolphin runner on second and two outs, junior right-handed pitcher Cameron Ponich forced a swinging strikeout to leave the runner stranded and keep the scored tied in the seventh inning.

Jacksonville held North Florida scoreless in the bottom half of the frame to send the game to extra innings.

The Dolphins would retake the lead for the final time in the eighth inning with a bases loaded single.
