JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball defeated North Dakota State, 6-0, in its rematch to finish off the weekend hosting the River City Leadoff on Sunday afternoon at UNF Softball Complex.
The Ospreys capped off the weekend winning five of their first six games. UNF earned its fourth shutout win over North Dakota State after suffering its first and only loss of the season to the Bison on Saturday.
Taylor Cook was dominant in the circle with no runs and only two hits allowed in six innings pitched to go along with four strikeouts. It was her second appearance of the year after starting the game against Auburn on Opening Day.
Bella Cimino was electric at the plate once again with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI against NDSU. It's her third consecutive game with multiple hits, as she improved her season line to a .500 BA (7-for-14) with two doubles, four RBI, three runs and two walks drawn.
Cimino is one of four Osprey players with at least seven hits in the first six games of the season joining Addie Keef (9), Grace Shaw (8) and Hallie Langford (8). Kelsey Vogel and Caiden Oliva join the four UNF batters with batting averages above .380, as well as Cimino, Keef and Shaw all hitting over .470 through the first weekend.
UNF struck first in the second inning against the Bison with Ayden Allen belting a double into left field to plate two runs. An RBI double from Cimino followed in the third inning with the fourth run scoring on a fielding error.
A sac-fly RBI from Vogel scored Shaw in the fifth inning to go along with another RBI knock from Cimino to push the lead to six. Kadyn Camper entered the game in the seventh to strike out the first two batters and finish the game for a 6-0 win.
