Oriol's Career Day Sends Men's Basketball Past Bellarmine In Overtime, 117-114

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior guard Kamrin Oriol posted a career-high 33 points and career-high 15 assists to propel North Florida Men's Basketball past Bellarmine, 117-114, in overtime at UNF Arena on Saturday.Â
The 231 combined points marked the highest single-game total in ASUN Conference history.Â
Sophomore guard Kent Jackson turned in 27 points on 9-15 from three in 40 minutes. He has now scored 20 or more points in four games this season. The nine threes by Jackson marked a career-high and the most by an Osprey since Jose Placer made 10 threes against Kennesaw State on Jan. 5, 2023.Â
Oriol's 15 assists mark the second most in a single game in program history. Oriol is the first Osprey ever to record a game with 30 or more points and 10 or more assists. The double-double for Oriol was the first for North Florida this season and the first of Oriol's career.Â
Jackson connected on four threes to open a 19-8 lead for North Florida at the 15:04-minute mark of the first half. North Florida led 22-15 at the initial media timeout at the 12:34-minute mark in the first half.Â
The Ospreys extended their lead to 45-32 at the 5:32-minute mark of the first half. Bellarmine closed its deficit to 45-40 with 4:12 minutes left before halftime. Jackson led all Ospreys with 21 points behind a 7-10 start from three in the first half.Â
North Florida connected on 12 threes in the first half and led 50-47 at the break.Â
North Florida led 61-57 at the under-16-minute media timeout in the second half.Â
Oriol scored 11 of the Ospreys' first 24 points in the second half. North Florida led 96-82 with 3:59 minutes left in regulation.Â
Bellarmine scored nine points in the final 31 seconds and ended the second half on a 20-6 run over the final 3:44 minutes to send the game to overtime tied at 102. Â
Bellarmine scored on each of its first two possessions in overtime, but North Florida ended the back-and-forth game on a 15-8 run to secure the eventual final.Â
North Florida outscored Bellarmine 35-8 in bench points. Graduate student guard/forward Dalton Gayman and graduate student guard Devin Hines combined for 28 of the 35 bench points.Â
North Florida remains at UNF Arena to host Stetson on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. ET.
