
Women's Basketball Coasts To Road Win At Bellarmine, 81-58

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Florida Women's Basketball coasted to an ASUN road win, 81-58, over Bellarmine inside Knights Hall on Thursday evening.
After the score was deadlocked at 10-10 at the first quarter media timeout, the Ospreys took a 19-16 lead into the second quarter with sophomore guard Jamisyn Stinson accounting for 13 of the 19 first quarter points.Â
After back-to-back layups from Stinson and freshman guard Abby Knauff, North Florida extended their lead to 34-24 at the halftime break.Â
UNF dished out 12 assists, forced 14 turnovers and held its opponent to just 33.3 percent from the field in the first half of action.Â
Stinson led all scorers with an ASUN-high 19 points, all in the first half of play, on 9-19 from the floor in 22 minutes. For Stinson, it marked her second-consecutive game, sixth game of the season and 19th career game with 10 or more points.
In the third quarter of action, North Florida used a 14-2 run to grab a 20-point lead, 50-30, at the 4:29 mark sparked by seven points from junior guard Alonya Waldon.Â
Bellarmine would narrow the margin to 50-38, before back-to-back threes from redshirt sophomore Alexa Washington and a layup from freshman Soraya Ogaldez pushed the Ospreys lead back out to 58-39 to end the third quarter.
Washington would finish the contest with 11 points, all coming in the second half of action, on 4-7 from the field and 3-5 from three in 28 minutes. She has scored at least 10 points in five of UNF's seven ASUN contests.
North Florida continued to be a force offensively putting up a 20-4 run capped off by a three from Karyzma Pierre to grab a 70-41 lead and force a Bellarmine timeout at the 6:43 mark of the fourth quarter.Â
All 11 players who saw action for UNF entered the scoring column. North Florida shot 48.6 percent from the field, held a 38-30 rebounding advantage, grabbed 16 steals and forced 26 turnovers.Â
Dominating in specialty statistics, the Ospreys outscored the Knights 36-7 in points off turnovers, 42-26 in paint points, 10-5 in second chance points, 14-0 in fast break points and 32-3 in bench points.
North Florida travels to Richmond, Ky., to face Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET on ESPN+.
