
Women's Basketball Falls at Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. – North Florida Women's Basketball fell on the road to Eastern Kentucky, 88-54, Saturday morning.
Sophomore guard Jamisyn Stinson led the Ospreys with 17 points on 7-11 from the field and 3-5 from deep in 30 minutes with all of Jamisyn's three pointers coming during the third quarter of play. For Stinson, it marked her third-consecutive game, seventh game this season and 20th career game with 10 or more points.
After a 16-2 run from EKU to start the contest, junior guard Alonya Waldon hit a three and a layup to put a stop to the run. North Florida would respond with a 6-0 run of its own from the 1:59 mark to the 0:59 mark of the first quarter to narrow the margin. EKU would take a 23-13 lead into the second quarter with Waldon posting seven points during the opening quarter of play.
Waldon would finish with 11 points on 5-9 from the field and 1-2 from three in 19 minutes. It was her ninth game this season and 20th career game with 10+ points.Â
Redshirt sophomore Alexa Washington would sink a midrange basket to beat the shot clock to narrow the margin to eight, 23-15, at the 9:09 mark of the second quarter. The Colonels would extend their advantage to 38-25 to close out the second quarter. The Ospreys limited their opponent to just 13% from beyond the arc in the opening half of play.
North Florida will play its third-consecutive road match in Nashville, Tenn., against Lipscomb on Thursday, Jan. 29. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
