
Men's Golf Underclassmen Shine To Start Bryan Bros Collegiate

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - North Florida men's golf got off to a good start with a 1-under 283 combined team score in the opening round of the Bryan Bros Collegiate hosted by South Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman Luke Balaskiewicz and redshirt sophomore Danny Erickson each combined for nine birdies over the first 18 holes to each score 3-under 68. Both will enter the second day of play tied for seventh overall among a stacked field that includes LSU, Clemson, Duke and South Carolina.
The Ospreys played their first round after it was moved up a day due to expected inclement weather in Columbia. UNF will compete in the final two rounds on Monday to finish out their second event of the fall season.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Balaskiewicz earned his first collegiate round in the 60s at 3-under 68 after two instances of back-to-back birdies.
- The true freshman in his second appearance with the Ospreys sits fifth in par-four average at 1-under (2.89).
- Erickson joins Balaskiewicz in the top seven matching the score of 3-under 68.
- He leads the pack at the event in par-three scoring average at 2-under (2.60), while also being sixth in birdies with five total in the opening round.
- Laurens Schulze-Doering used a strong start to go along with three birdies to head into the second round at 1-over 72.
