Ospreys Win Game One 3-1, Fall in Game Two
Game 1
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -Â A late two-run single from Cade Bush and strong pitching from Kai Etwaru helped North Florida defeat Alabama State, 3-1 in game one of a doubleheader Saturday from Harmon Stadium.
Tied 1-1 in the eighth, Nick Monile singled to start the inning for North Florida (9-6). Mitchell Collins walked. Following a flyout, both runners advanced one base on a wild pitch. With runners at first and second, Jabin Bates walked, With the bases loaded, Bush cracked a two-run single which gave UNF a 3-1 lead over Alabama State (5-11).
The Ospreys struck first in the third inning. With two outs, Collins (1) clobbered a home run which gave North Florida a 1-0 advantage.
The Hornets answered in the fifth. With one out, Kameron Douglas singled. Luke Parmentier followed with a walk. Two batters later, Mikel Pryor ripped an RBI single to tie the game at one.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Connor Witherington hit his first collegiate home run, but the North Florida Ospreys fell to Alabama State, 14-4, in game two of a doubleheader Saturday from Harmon Stadium.
The Hornets stuck first with a four-run first inning. Mikel Pryor cracked a bases-clearing double and later scored on an RBI double from DeMarckus Smiley.
North Florida added a run in the home half of the first on an RBI single from Carter White which made it 4-1. Leading by three, Isaiah Landry reached on an error to start the second. With a runner on first, Alex Espaillat smacked an RBI triple to make it 5-1.
Alabama State continued their impressive offensive showing the third. The Hornets scored five runs in the inning. Espaillat and Juan Cruz each added two RBIs to their season total in the frame. Up 10-1, Espaillat continued his hot hitting in the fourth. He laced a two-run single which gave the Hornets a dozen runs on the night.
In the fifth, Smiley smoked an RBI single and plated Cruz which made it a 13-1. UNF scored two runs in the sixth. Pinch hitters Ty Velardo and Cal Leonard both picked up their first RBI's of the season on a sac fly and single.
The Hornets responded in the seventh. Cruz brought home another run on a single which gave Alabama State their 14th and final run of the game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Connor Witherington (1) crushed his first collegiate home run.
