Baseball Wins Tuesday Game Against FAMU

Ospreys Walk 15 Times in 13-10 Win
North Florida (10-7) opened the scoring in the second inning. Cade Bush, Brady Browning, Drew Leinenbach, and James Oman all walked to start the inning and Oman's walk forced home the first run of the game. Ty Velardo and Mitchell Collins followed with back-to-back sac flies to put UNF up 3-0. Two batters later, Connor Moore smacked an RBI double as the Ospreys went up 4-0.
Trailing by four, Ben Kim singled with two outs in the fourth for FAMU (6-11). With a runner at first, Matthew Perez clobbered a two-run home run to cut the deficit in half.
Up 4-2, Velardo walked to start the fourth. Collins followed with a double. Bates walked to load the bases. Two batters later, Carter White singled home two as UNF went up 6-2.
Florida A&M answered back with a run in the fifth. The Rattlers loaded the bases but only scored one run on an RBI groundout from Broedy Poppell.
The Ospreys put up five more runs in the home half of the fifth. UNF quickly loaded the bases and scored their first run of the inning on an RBI groundout from Velardo. With two runners on, Collins smoked a two-run double. Jabin Bates walked and following a fielder's choice, White and Bush were both hit by a pitch. After a pitching change, Browning forced home the fifth run of the inning on a walk which put North Florida up 11-3.
The Rattlers bats continued to be a pain in the neck for UNF. Justin Lopez reached on an error to start the inning. Perez singled to right and Lopez advanced to third. With runners at first and third, Jordan Brown ripped an RBI double. Ethan Miller and Jalen Niles followed with RBI knocks of their own as FAMU began to close the gap. With two runners on base and nobody out, William Brown cracked a two-run double. One hitter later, Poppell ripped an RBI triple. Now a two-run game, Jay Campbell reached on an error which allowed Poppell to score. The run was the seventh of the inning and it made it 11-10.
The Ospreys added a run in the sixth. Velardo walked and advanced to third on a throwing error on a pick off. With a runner at third, Collins smacked an RBI single.
Leading 12-10, UNF added their final run in the seventh. Bush doubled to right, advanced to third on a flyout, and scored on a balk.
Kaden Humphrey slammed the door in the ninth to secure a 13-10 win for UNF and his fourth save of the season.
