Schell Sinks Hole-In-One at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH S.C. - North Florida men's golf was headlined in the second round by Brett Schell's hole-in-one on the ninth hole to help him land in the top 15 through two rounds at the General Hackler Championship hosted by Coastal Carolina on Monday afternoon.

Schell repeated his opening round score of 1-under 71 with a pair of birdies and his hole-in-one on the ninth hole to close out the front end of the course. He hit his nine iron a total 185 yards to accomplish the incredible feature from the sixth-year Osprey senior.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Schell continued his consistency in the second round with only three holes worse than par to be 2-under 142 going into the final round.
  • His hole-and-one on the ninth hole helped him to a top three par-three scoring average (2-under) with 18 holes remaining.
  • Danny Erickson had a great stretch of golf on the turn with three total birdies on the day to be tied for 29th overall at 1-over 145 combined.
  • Jason Duff used three birdies and a top four par-four scoring average (1-under) to be ranked 37th overall.
  • Filippo Serra holds the most birdies of the team scorers with eight through two rounds, including three straight on Monday, while Adam Vermut finished out the day for UNF.
  • Justin Ross parlayed five birdies in round two with a top four par-five scoring average (5-under) to jump into a share of 21st overall unattached to the team score.
  • Schell leads the Osprey flock in pars with 24 total, while Ross has the most birdies with nine total.
  • UNF continued the second round with 100 total pars and 29 birdies from its players.
