
Stinson's Career-High 23 Points Propels Women's Basketball Past UNC Asheville, 76-61

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Sophomore guard Jamisyn Stinson's career-high 23 points propelled North Florida Women's Basketball past UNC Asheville, 76-61, at the Kimmel Arena in Asheville, N.C. on Saturday.Â
North Florida improves to 4-5 on the season and earns its first road win through the inital portion of its non-conference schedule.
The 76 points mark a season-high total for the Ospreys, who connected on 46.8 percent from the field (29-62), 36.7 percent from three (11-30) and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line (7-8).
After it fell behind 14-6, North Florida responded with a 12-4 run highlighted by a pair of deep threes from Stinson to secure an 18-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.Â
North Florida outscored UNC Asheville 18-8 in the second quarter that was capped off by a Stinson three-pointer right before the buzzer sounded to secure a 36-24 lead at the break.
North Florida continued to expand its lead in the third quarter. After back-to-back threes from junior guard Elle Blatchford and redshirt-sophomore guard Alexa Washington and a steal and layup from Stinson, the Ospreys commanded a 48-28 lead at the 5:54-minute mark of the frame.
The Bulldogs would cut the margin to 57-45 at the end of the third quarter before the Ospreys opened the fourth quarter with a 11-2 run to extend it back to 68-47, the largest lead of the game.
Stinson led the team with a career-high 23 points on 8-15 from the field and 5-11 from three and a career-high eight rebounds, in addition to a career-high 3 assists in 32 minutes. It marked her second collegiate game with 20 or more points and her fourth game of the season and 17th career-game with 10 or more points.Â
Blatchford collected 11 points on 5-9 from the field in 29 minutes which marked her second-consecutive, third of the season and 20th career game with 10 or more points.Â
North Florida was dominant on the boards with a 41-20 rebounding advantage highlighted by 18 offensive rebounds. The Ospreys also posted a 36-34 advantage in paint points, 12-4 in second chance points, 15-11 in fast break points and 20-10 in bench points.Â
Overall, all ten Ospreys who saw action entered the scoring column.
North Florida returns home to UNF Arena to face Coastal Georgia on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
