
McGill's 30 Points Propels North Florida Past Coastal Georgia, 96-82

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida Women's Basketball closed out its non-conference home slate undefeated with a 96-82 win over Coastal Georgia at UNF Arena on Tuesday.Â

Freshman forward Dezuray McGill propelled North Florida with a career-high 30 points on 15-21 from the field with four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes. Junior guard Elle Blatchford added a season-high 13 points on 5-8 from the field and 3-5 from three in 18 minutes.Â
Â
Blatchford posted her third-straight game, fourth game of the season and 21st career game with 10 or more points.

The 30 points from McGill marked the second-most by a freshman under Head Coach Erika Lambert. It is the most points for North Florida since Alexa Washington totaled 31 points against Piedmont on Dec. 13, 2023.Â

Junior guard/forward Karyzma Pierre notched a career-high 11 points and career-high six assists on 4-7 from the field in 20 minutes.Â

North Florida closed out its home non-conference slate with a 4-0 record and improved to 5-5 on the season.Â

North Florida opened the game on a 15-5 run that ran into the 3:35 minute mark of the first quarter. Coastal Georgia cut the deficit to two possessions before McGill banked in a buzzer-beating layup to give North Florida a 24-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.Â

UNF outscored its visitors 22-20 in the second quarter to secure a 46-37 lead at half. McGill was dominant in the first half with a team-high 16 points on 8-11 from the field.Â

The Ospreys opened its largest lead of the game at 25, 76-51, at the 8:58 mark of the fourth quarter.Â
