NEW ORLEANS, La. - North Florida women's basketball (1-2) put up a fight in its second road game of the season, but lost to Tulane (2-1), 77-54, on Friday afternoon.
The Ospreys were led by Jamisyn Stinson and Alexa Washington, as they each reached double-digit scoring marks. Stinson led the team with 15 points made off of three treys, while Washington dropped 11 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
UNF jumped out to an early lead after four points were scored each by Stinson and Georgi Buzzetti. Washington extended the Osprey lead to seven points in the first quarter to continue a seven-point run to go up 13-9.
After another short 5-0 run, UNF went into the second quarter holding a four-point lead with Megan Verbeeten notching back-to-back buckets. After a run from Tulane to start the period, Claire Davis scored her first points as an Osprey to cut the lead down to two.
Stinson and Verbeeten each made three-point shots with under three minutes left in the first half to go into the break down by five. Buzzetti was the first to score for UNF coming into the second half with a pair of scores in the paint.
