
McGill Drops Career-High 16 Points in Loss to South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. - Freshman forward Dezuray McGill had the best showing of her career thus far for North Florida women's basketball (1-3) in the matinee defeat to South Alabama (3-1), 83-46, on Friday afternoon.
McGill dropped a season-best 16 points in the fourth appearance of her career to go along with five rebounds shooting 7-for-11 from the field. Alexa Washington matched McGill's mark of a team-high five rebounds, as her and Elle Blatchford combined for 13 points in the back court.
Ospreys had 32 of their 46 points scored in the paint while shooting 32.7% from the field. Nine different UNF players put up points with 11 total seeing the floor through the 40 minutes played.
UNF had a hot start from the afternoon tip with Stinson scoring the first points in the paint. Elle Blatchford extended the lead by a pair with an and-one bucket in the first period.
Going into the second quarter, Karyzma Pierre earned points to be followed by McGill draining one from downtown. She also ended the first half with a made layup to go into the break with the Ospreys down 18 points.
After scores from Blatchford and McGill in the third, another and-one basket was made by McGill to start an 8-0 run in the fourth. Stinson earned the team's second three-pointer and McGill added more points to reach her season-best 16 points.
North Florida wraps up its three-game road trip with an SEC matchup against Georgia on Thursday, Nov. 20, with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m., in Athens, Ga.
