
Jackson Turns In Career-High 16, Men's Basketball Drops Battle At No. 20 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – North Florida Men's Basketball fell to No. 20/18 Tennessee, 99-66, at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center on Wednesday night.Â
Sophomore guard Kent Jackson posted a team-high 16 points behind four threes, in addition to five assists and four rebounds in 28 minutes. The points, rebounds, assists and minutes total all marked career highs for Jackson.Â
Senior guard Kamrin Oriol turned in his second-straight game with 10 or more points to open the season with 11 points and three assists in 34 minutes. Graduate student guard Devin Hines added 11 points, nine of which were scored in the first half, and four rebounds in 28 minutes.Â
North Florida got off to a quick start and led 7-3 in the initial three minutes of action. Jackson's second first-half three secured a 22-21 lead for North Florida at the 9:41-minute mark of the first half.Â

North Florida traded baskets with Tennessee throughout the first 14 minutes of action and a jumper at the free-throw line from freshman guard/forward BJ Plummer trimmed the deficit to one possession at 32-30 with 6:13 minutes left before the halftime break. Tennessee went on a run from that possession and commanded a 47-30 lead at the half.Â

Jackson turned in 10 of his 16 points in the second half. Redshirt freshman guard Taylor Thompson made his collegiate debut and Plummer recored his first collegiate basket on a first-half three from the left arc. Plummer finished with five points on 2-2 from the field and 1-1 from three with two rebounds in 17 minutes.Â
