SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - North Florida men's golf began its three-day tournament weekend at the Valero Texas Collegiate hosted by UTSA on Saturday afternoon.
The Ospreys were led by sixth-year graduate
Brett Schell in the opening round with a score of 2-over 74. This is the second consecutive tournament that Schell has led the UNF team after the first round after receiving a redshirt during the 2023-24 season.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Schell recorded four birdies, including back-to-back to finish the front nine, on his way to a 2-over 74 round.
- Jason Duff totaled a team-leading 13 pars over his first 18 holes of the weekend to be sitting at 5-over 77.
- Danny Erickson used a great start of 2-under with two birdies through the first three holes to join Duff at 5-over 77.
- Justin Ross makes his season debut for the Ospreys with four birdies on the day to be the third player on the team to notch 5-over 77.
- He joins Schell and Erickson for the team lead in birdies with four after the first round.
- Filippo Serra wraps up the opening round for UNF as the fifth player, while Alejandro Ramos also competed as an individual for his first collegiate appearance since the 2022-23 season.
- The Ospreys put together 42 pars and 15 birdies over their first 18 holes as a team in San Antonio.
